  • The Bar Association offers free access to Lexis/Nexis and an enhanced version of the Odyssey/MyCase system?  This is a members-only benefit in the law library.
  • Members are allowed to attend and receive credit for ICLEF Video Replays at NO CHARGE, if they agree to moderate the program?  Contact the bar office for more details.
  • Many attorneys use the law library to meet with clients in a safe and secure location?  You can use or reserve (at no charge) the law library to use as a member.
  • The Bar Association offers a LAWYER REFERRAL PROGRAM!  We receive hundreds of calls a week requesting info on local attorneys.  We only refer these potential clients to member attorneys through our Lawyer Referral Program.  For the low cost of $75 we can add your name to our referral list.  Contact the Lawyer Referral Specialist, Amaris, for the full details at 574-235-9657 or via email at stjoeLRS@sjcindiana.com.  We have a strong need for attorneys who assist with Criminal, Employment, Family and Landlord/Tenant legal issues!!

SJCBA provides a job postings board for local firms and government offices to post job openings and attract applicants. SJCBA also works with job seekers to connect with firms and government officers, learn how to interview, and choose a practice specialty.

Helpful e-filing links and tips

Here are some best practices for you to incorporate into your work flow.

  • Be sure to sign everything you file, including property settlement agreements. Without paper minute entries, no one knows who filed a document if you don’t have your name on it. (Don’t forget, Trial Rule 11 says thou shalt sign all filings even if the client signs it.)
  • Call the clerks or court before submitting a notice of hearing so you can include the date and time on the notice. This helps filings move through the system more quickly.
